Mode-cutoff frequencies of coaxial optical couplers

Abstract

The cutoff frequencies of coaxial optical couplers have been computed using the transverse resonance technique. It is shown that a coupler supports normally at least three modes. The results are applicable to both coaxial couplers and segmented-core fibers of the same profile.
