Abstract

A massively parallel Fourier-spectrometer array that takes advantage of the voltage-controlled birefringence of a liquid-crystal cell is proposed. The retardation variation of a nematic liquid-crystal cell controlled by an ac voltage is used for the optical path scanning of a Fourier-spectrometer array. An experiment for correcting the nonlinearity of retardation is demonstrated, and problems related to this massively parallel array are pointed out.
