Abstract

A theoretical analysis of the problem of scattering from randomly rough surfaces with centers of symmetry is made. The results of the analysis, based on the Kirchhoff approximation, show that the diffuse intensity can be enhanced or reduced in the specular direction and that the angular width of this feature is of the order of λ/L. Experimental results that illustrate the nature of these coherent effects are presented.
