Analytical calculation of timing jitter in single-mode semiconductor lasers under fast periodic modulation

Abstract

A new combined analytical and numerical method for calculating the switch-on time and timing jitter of a single-mode semiconductor laser in the gigahertz range is presented. The results obtained with this method are in extremely good agreement with numerical simulations of the rate equations of the laser.
