Spatial filtering by laser detection in confocal microscopy

Abstract

We describe a simple novel form of confocal microscope that uses a single-mode laser. We ensure confocal operation by permitting the image light to reenter the laser cavity and detecting the confocal signal as a modulation on lasing power.
