Observation of coherent Raman scattering in thin-film optical waveguides

Abstract

We have measured coherent surface Raman scattering in 2-μm-thick films of polystyrene by guiding the incident and scattered light in the film. Peak conversion efficiencies of 0.2% were found, in excellent agreement with theoretical predictions.
